Artist statement

My work is an investigation of visual elements within an image, and what happens to how the image is received once the elements have been altered.
It takes iconic imagery and subtracts its visual stimulants such as colour, tone and form. I leave clear shapes of the image upon a background so that it becomes camouflaged within the walls.

I use iconic imagery so that the viewer has some previous familiarity with the image. Having previous knowledge of the image helps my work propose the question what happens to an iconic image when you cannot see it clearly?
